The Gospel, my pride

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written: “But the righteous one will live by faith.” (Romas 1:16-17)

The People of Yesuan

“I am not asking on behalf of these alone, but also for those who believe in Me through their word, that they may all be one; just as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The glory which You have given Me I also have given to them, so that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, just as You loved Me.” (John 17:20-23)

We invite you to be part of the Yesuan family.

Hello, I am Pastor Pillsik Baek (and wife Eunyeong Kim).

In January of 2007, I moved to the US with my wife and our two daughters to study abroad at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Fort Worth, TX). Upon finishing my studies in 2011,  Pastor Young Kim (now Senior Pastor of Federal Way Bethel Baptist Church) and I planted Sewuhgineun Korean Baptist Church (The Colony, TX) and participated in joint ministry with Pastor Jaehyung Kim (now associate pastor of Seoul Samsung Church) and Pastor Joongjae Lee (now associate pastor of Dallas Nahnum Church). Afterwards, from 2017 I served as senior pastor until I resigned in August of 2021 when we moved to Washington to plant a church. Currently, we planted Yesuan Korean Baptist Church at Seattle in Lynnwood, WA and held our opening worship service on October 2nd of 2022. Beginning February of 2024 we have moved our worship service to Redmond, WA.

To this day, I have made it a mission to share the gospel correctly through expository sermons and Bible studies (include theological lectures), and my wife and I plant to continue to share God’s word as such. And we hope to experience the life lived through the shared word (⌜the life lived through the gospel⌟) together with the Yesuan family that the Lord will bring together. We ask that you join us in praying for another of the Lord’s churches to be built beautifully and firmly, and we invite you all to be part of the family of Yesuan Korean Baptist Church at Seattle.

Church Name and Logo

The meaning behind the church name and symbol

The ‘Yesuan’ of Yesuan Korean Baptist Church at Seattle means a church that is united with Christ. We created a logo to symbolize that meaning. The symbol depicts observing from the sky (bird’s eye view) Jesus embracing the church with his arms to become on body. Like so, the church exists only through the work of Jesus Christ, not through our knowledge and efforts.

  • Orange Half-Circle: The head of Jesus
  • Blue Outer-Circle: The arms of Jesus
  • White Inner-Circle: The church – God’s people wearing white

Ways We Serve

“for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then are they to call on Him in whom they have not believed? How are they to believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how are they to hear without a preacher? But how are they to preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” (Romans 10:13-15)

“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the [a]multifaceted grace of God. 11 Whoever speaks is to do so as one who is speaking actual words of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)

People who Serve

“I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service, even though I was previously a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief;  and the grace of our Lord was more than abundant, with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus.” (1 Timothy 1:12-14)
